We are Just Travelers

For to me life is Christ, and death is gain.  Philippians 1:21 Today's first reading has really come to reality in the past few years.  To quote C.S. Lewis 'we are not made for this world', which means we are travelers journeying through this world to Jesus which is our home in the next life.   And I do not know which I shall choose. I am caught between the two. I long to depart this life and be with Christ, for that is far better. Yet that I remain in the flesh is more necessary for your benefit.  Philippians 1:23.  We remain in our earthen vessel as an example for others as to how God wants us to go through life, giving thanks to God for everything that he has given to us.  I often say, 'I am selfish as I want you here living through the everyday struggles of this life, but I am jealous of you as to where you are and what you see', which Philippians says to be with Christ is far better.   How can we deny what our earthly life is meant for other than for everyone t

After the master of the house has arisen and locked the door, then will you stand outside knocking and saying, 'Lord, open the door for us.' When the door has been locked and you are standing outside then you will try to bargain with Jesus to say "I did enough Lord to enter, I went to church every Sunday and I put my money into the collection plate", 'but he will say I do not know who you'.  And why do you think he will not know who you are?  Because he only saw you on Sunday, you had many more opportunities to find Jesus and most importantly in the confessional telling him how sorry you were for having offended him.  For as it is written 'but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven'.  Matthew 10:33.  You can argue with Bible all you want but the words are set and will not be changed as they are the words of Jesus Christ himself.  The narrow gate is Jesus Christ himself because he says no one can come to the Fat

God's will

There are six days when work should be done. Come on those days to be cured, not on the sabbath day.  Luke 13:14 How often do you put up obstacles to distance yourself from God?  Do you look for ways to say, "that isn't really what God wants."  Jesus came into this world for one purpose to do the will of God and never did he run from that purpose.  You came into this world for one purpose, to do the will of God, do you turn away from the one purpose?   You do not want to do God's will because it makes you feel uncomfortable and you do not feel you have what it takes.  God supplied you with everything required to be successful in this life, so to ensure your place at the table of our Lord in the next life.  Do you allow God to control your life, or do you feel you know what is best for you?  Be submissive to the will of God.  Lord Jesus, you grant freedom to those who seek you. Give me freedom to walk in your way of love and to praise and worship you always. Show me ho

Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed on the housetops.  Luke 12:3 Do not think that you will ever be able to hid anything from God.  He knows your coming and your going, whether you sit or stand.  He provides for a sparrow who has no way of securing his food, do you not think he would also provide for you?   He has counted the hairs on your head.  Fear of God should not bother you, we do not fear God in the sense that he is out to get us, but we should fear God in that we are doing everything that is right for our salvation.  But do not be afraid find comfort in the words from St. John Paul II “God’s love doesn’t impose burdens upon us that we cannot carry… For whatever He asks of us, He provides the help that is needed.”  We need to follow Jesus even in the fear of temptation.  Everything we do is a choice and we need to subconsciously think will this benefit my salvation or will

I cannot get up to give you anything. I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves because of their friendship, he will get up to give him whatever he needs because of his persistence.  Luke 11:8 Do you expect God to give you what you need without asking?  Since he is and all knowing God do we expect him to just give us everything and not have to ask?  If that is what you believe then there is no need for God because you have everything.  If  you have everything then your life is complete and you have the answers to true happiness and there is no need for anything else.  No trials or bumps in the road can affect you because you have it all figured out.   For us that live in the real world, believe that we have a free will to do as we choose but know that our choices affect what our conscience tells us is true.  As the friend that asks for the bread in the middle of the night, his persistence is similar to how we approach God in prayer.  Do you ask with a humble and contrit
