Stay awake

Image
Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.  Mathew  25:13 How many parables has Jesus told where he says, "stay awake, for you do not know."  How many times do you need to hear this from Jesus before you will come to believe?  Jesus is giving us many opportunities to find him and stay with him.   We often fall away and need to hear him call us back.  Jesus came for one reason, to save your soul and bring it to him for your eternal salvation.  Get rid of your selfish me-first attitude and thank God for giving you another opportunity to be with him.  When Jesus comes will you be ready with extra oil and your lamp trimmed or will you be unprepared and miss his coming.  Lord Jesus, make me vigilant and attentive to your voice that I may heed your call at all times. May I find joy in your presence and delight in doing your will.

saved

Someone asked him, "Lord, will only a few people be saved?"  Luke 13:23 Contemplating this passage brings to mind one of many questions: what does it take to be saved?  In order to be saved we must live in the fullness of Jesus Christ and his ministry.  With the beginning of the ministry of Jesus Christ he instituted the Catholic church.   When Jesus answers the question he does not give a direct answer,  but does say that "we must strive to enter through the narrow gate".  Jesus ministry includes but is not limited to the Sacrament of Baptism,  the Sacrament of the Eucharist, the Sacrament of Confirmation and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  The easist way to get to heaven is through the ministry that Jesus Christ himself instituted, the Catholic Church.  Yes, there are other ways but are they as sure as through the Catholic Church?  The process before entering into the fullness  of Jesus is called pur...

set the world on fire

Jesus said to his disciples: “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!   Luke 12:49 Today's Gospel speaks of the ministry that Jesus was called to bring forth.  Jesus was raised under Judaism law and practiced the beliefs through Abraham and Moses.  Jesus's mininstry was the belief in a Triune God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  God's plan is to save us from the destruction of sin that has taken over our lives.  Jesus says he will bring division into your household because not everyone is able to understand and believe his teachings.  "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him."  John 6:56  "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." Mathew 5:43  Those are just two of the many that cause the world to hate Jesus or despise his teachings.   Your faith in Jesus will be rewarded, to believe in the things not seen.  "I do believe, help my unbelief."...

Angels

Image
See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.  Mathew 18:10.  The little ones referenced in this scripture passage refers to each one of us as a child of God.  Each person has a guardian Angel that God has designated to you.  I encourage you each day to pray to your guardian Angel who inturn is always looking to God and praying for you.  Your guardian Angel always has your best interest in mind and will always pray for you to do the will of our Father.   Contemplating this passage and listening to the part of the Devine Praises where the priest says "Blessed be God in his Angels and in his Saints" brings the hope of all the prayers answered through this wonderful prayer and our devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.  Angel of God my guardian dear to whom God's love commits me here  ever this day be at my side  to love and to guard to rule an...

where is God calling you...

Jesus made the disciples get into a boat and precede him to the other side of the sea, while he dismissed the crowds.   Mathew 14:22 Are there times in your life where Jesus is telling you to do something?  Faith in Jesus telling you what to do is doing his will.  Or was it more that Jesus wanted to be alone to pray since he went up the mountain.  Meditating on the silence is a beautiful time to pray when it is just you and him.  Find comfort in God and being alone with him.  While Jesus was praying he sensed their need and went to them.  It is this same way that God senses our need and comes to us when the storm in our life is tossing us about.  He comes to us and asks us to get out of the boat and walk to him, but in our human nature we lack the faith that he will provide everything and we start to sink and we need to reach out and grab his hand for him to hold us up.   Know that God is bigger than anything else in your life go to...
