saved
Someone asked him, "Lord, will only a few people be saved?" Luke 13:23
Contemplating this passage brings to mind one of many questions: what does it take to be saved? In order to be saved we must live in the fullness of Jesus Christ and his ministry. With the beginning of the ministry of Jesus Christ he instituted the Catholic church. When Jesus answers the question he does not give a direct answer, but does say that "we must strive to enter through the narrow gate". Jesus ministry includes but is not limited to the Sacrament of Baptism, the Sacrament of the Eucharist, the Sacrament of Confirmation and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The easist way to get to heaven is through the ministry that Jesus Christ himself instituted, the Catholic Church. Yes, there are other ways but are they as sure as through the Catholic Church? The process before entering into the fullness of Jesus is called purgatory and because the time after death is not measured we are unsure how long this will be before we can enter into the fullness of Jesus. With the resurrection of Jesus the heavens have been opened and we each have what it takes to enter this fullness, the question is do you have what it takes? Are you willing to sacrifice everything for the kingdom of God? As Stephanie and I discussed all the time, it is not easy being Catholic, but it is the easiest way to get to heaven. Do you want to settle for easy?
I believe in you, my God. You called me into existence from nothingness and carefully watch over me. You have even numbered the hairs of my head. I trust in your infinite goodness, and I abandon into your loving hands my fears, my hopes, my needs, my desires, everything. I love you, Lord, and wish to love you with all my mind, heart, soul and strength. I shall not fear for my salvation, but grow in confidence in you, my God.
