Speak from the heart

Jesus said to his Apostles: “Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves.   Mathew 10:16

Today's Gospel is as true Today as it was over 2000 years ago.  We live in a world were our Catholic faith is being attacked from all sides as well as internally.  Jesus assures us not to worry about what to say or how to speak, trust in the Holy Spirit to guide your words, for Jesus says, 'when they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say. You will be given at that moment what you are to say.'  Mathew 10:19.  If you speak from the heart with love foremost, you will be listening to the Holy Spirit. 

Jesus never painted the picture that life would he easy if we followed him, but what he did say was that we would be rewarded for our efforts, if they were true to his teachings.  'whoever endures to the end will be saved'.  Mathew 10:22. He told us to be shrewd, which means 'having or showing sharp powers of judgment'.  We will find that trait if we understand and follow the teachings of Jesus.

My witness

Lets open with a prayer. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit Amen. Lord Jesus, I believe in your presence in my life, family and those here today. I believe that you ask nothing of me that you do not give me the strength to do. I trust in the power of your grace and the care of your love.
