To Love is greater than being Loved

“I have told you this so that you may not fall away. They will expel you from the synagogues; in fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he is offering worship to God. John 16:2 Jesus was telling his Apostles they were going to face very troubled times in proclaiming who Jesus Christ was, but in today's Gospel Jesus is preluding to the fact that Jesus will send them an advocate, a counselor who will assist them on their journey.  The faith they had to trust in proclaiming Jesus is nothing short of amazing.  Do you believe something so much that you are willing to fight through everything so that people know what you believe in.  Are you willing to walk upstream in the current of life to proclaim what is true?  You to have an advocate, a counselor to assist you in all your challenges of today's world, you just have to say, "Come Holy Spirit".  The nucleous of the family is under attack from every facet of our society.  We are in turmo...

Joy

I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete.  John 15:11  Your joy was complete...  May 19, 2021 5:55 pm.  I put no greater significance on this day.  Today is no different than every other day that I miss you.  You did not die to be forgotten and never spoken of again, you were born into eternal life to go rejoicing until we meet again.   You are changing hearts...  strengthening them in the power of the love of Jesus.  O God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time. Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace. Taking, as He did, the sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with Him forever.  AMEN ...

Love

As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.  John 13:34 In today's Gospel Jesus states that he is giving us a new commandment when actually he is defining the second commandment and how we are to carry it out.  "As I have loved you", when Jesus says this how do you relate that to your life?  God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son not to condemn the world but to save it.  Jesus says to love your neighbor as yourself.  Anything you would do for yourself,  you should go above and beyond and do for your neighbor. Every relationship should be built on love rather than judgment.  Thinking the good for others renews our faith in God's mercy and in turn he will show his mercy upon us.  When I think of love from Jesus the only thing I can think of is the cross he bore for me to give us again the hope for eternal life.  A man brutally beaten and tortured for telling the truth.  Submitting yourself to the will of Go...

Faith Saves

As a result of this, many of his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer walked with him.  John 6:66 Jesus has instituted the Eucharist and said this is My Body and My Blood take in remembrance of me.  Up to this point his disciples were able to believe and follow the calling of who they thought was the Messiah.  The readings from today were to much for them to belive and participate in so many chose to leave and go back to their old way life.  Do you find the teaching of Jesus to much for you?  Do you prefer the ala carte version of your faith where you can pick and choose what to believe?   The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his Flesh to eat?”  John 6:52 Four times is yesterday's Gospel Jesus states the importance of receiving his body and blood in order to have eternal life.  There is no getting around the significance of what Jesus is saying.  So to is the third com...
