To Love is greater than being Loved

“I have told you this so that you may not fall away.
They will expel you from the synagogues;
in fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you
will think he is offering worship to God. John 16:2

Jesus was telling his Apostles they were going to face very troubled times in proclaiming who Jesus Christ was, but in today's Gospel Jesus is preluding to the fact that Jesus will send them an advocate, a counselor who will assist them on their journey.  The faith they had to trust in proclaiming Jesus is nothing short of amazing.  Do you believe something so much that you are willing to fight through everything so that people know what you believe in.  Are you willing to walk upstream in the current of life to proclaim what is true?  You to have an advocate, a counselor to assist you in all your challenges of today's world, you just have to say, "Come Holy Spirit".

The nucleous of the family is under attack from every facet of our society.  We are in turmoil of our personal values and personal faith thinking that God will fix all our problems, when it is actually us that need to change.  We need to go back to our good Christian faith that God created all things and to thank him for what we have, and values for love of neighbor that they, as us were created in the image and likeness of God.

Benedict XVI said, we need to be open to the touch of the Spirit of God, in order not to fear in face of so much pain, suffering, and helplessness in a world so materialistic — even though it might seem like God is absent or out of reach — but rather learning to ask for the help of the Spirit: "Come Holy Spirit and renew your Church according to your will”.

Prayer:
"O merciful God, fill our hearts, we pray, with the graces of your Holy Spirit; with love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control. Teach us to love those who hate us; to pray for those who despitefully use us; that we may be the children of your love, our Father, who makes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. In adversity grant us grace to be patient; in prosperity keep us humble; may we guard the door of our lips; may we lightly esteem the pleasures of this world, and thirst after heavenly things; through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Go out and make a difference in someone's life today.
