Faith Saves

As a result of this,
many of his disciples returned to their former way of life
and no longer walked with him.  John 6:66

Jesus has instituted the Eucharist and said this is My Body and My Blood take in remembrance of me.  Up to this point his disciples were able to believe and follow the calling of who they thought was the Messiah.  The readings from today were to much for them to belive and participate in so many chose to leave and go back to their old way life.  Do you find the teaching of Jesus to much for you?  Do you prefer the ala carte version of your faith where you can pick and choose what to believe?  

The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his Flesh to eat?”  John 6:52

Four times is yesterday's Gospel Jesus states the importance of receiving his body and blood in order to have eternal life.  There is no getting around the significance of what Jesus is saying.  So to is the third commandment that Jesus gave us to keep holy the Sabbath, and in accord to receive his body and his blood.  

I pray every day that someday you will believe in the doctrine taught by Jesus and have the faith that God will provide everything you need.  Occasionally, we may fall into the temptation of thinking that non-Christians are more tranquil than us and do what they want, whereas we have to abide by a list of commandments. This is a merely superficial view of things.  The Christian faith is the building blocks to a better person and a stronger sense of being. 

Daily Prayer:
"Lord Jesus, you have the words of eternal life. Open my ears to hear your voice and to follow your ways. Give me understanding that I may grow in the knowledge of your great love and wisdom for my life."

My witness

Lets open with a prayer. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit Amen. Lord Jesus, I believe in your presence in my life, family and those here today. I believe that you ask nothing of me that you do not give me the strength to do. I trust in the power of your grace and the care of your love. Love Always Wins

Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.  John 21:17 In response to Peter's denial on the night before he died, in today's Gospel Jesus asks Peter three times, "do you love me?"  Peter's response is true to the very existence of God, he does know everything.  It was painful for Peter to hear this from Jesus, but he was not asking this to make him feel bad, he was making a point that I will love you above everything.  No matter what you do in this life, I love you.  Jesus asks us this very same question, "do you love me more than these?".  God's love has no limit for you or for me, he loves you and wants to be with you and is why he ends the conversation with Peter, "Follow Me".  When He asks Peter to follow,  he is saying the same thing to us.  Are you willing to love Him "more than these?"  Are you willing to love more than any of your earthly possessions?  Our pure love is when our will is what God's will is for ...
