we are all ignorant to some point

And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him.  Luke 24:15

From the words of St. Jerome,  'ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of God'.  This is why I believe they did not recognize Jesus as he pulled up beside them and questionedhim why he did not know of the things that happenedin Jerusalem.  They even said, "Some women from our group, however, have astounded us: they were at the tomb early in the morning and did not find his body; they came back and reported that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he was alive. Then some of those with us went to the tomb and found things just as the women had described, but him they did not see.”  Luke 24:22-24. Were they ignorant to the scripture pass where Jesus told them on the third day he would rise?  Where were they going, nothing was said that he would be found in Emmaus.  Even today we know where to find Jesus, but do we go to him to thank him for everything he has done for us?  Or are we ignorant to where Christ can found and ignorant to the fact that everything we have has been given to us from Him.  Isaiah 55: 6-7 states, "Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon."  Jesus is always near to us as he states in Mathew 28:20 "Before Jesus left this earth, he spoke the following words to his disciples, “And behold, I am always with you, to the end of the age”.

Lord Jesus Christ, open the eyes of my heart to recognize your presence with me and to understand the truth of your saving word. Nourish me with your life-giving word and with the bread of life.
