J.O.Y.

As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the Twelve disciples aside by themselves, and said to them on the way, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.”  Mathew 20: 17-19

Can a human mind truly know what Jesus went through when he said this to his Apostles?   They were not able to comprehend this as all they were thinking about was, 'what is in this for me?'  Don't you do the same thing, what am I going to get out of this?  How is this going to benefit me?  We need to look for Christ in each person we meet whether it is in our family or on the street.  Read Mathew 25: 31-46.  What you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.  Jesus did not come to condemn the world he came to save it.  He is giving you every opportunity to build up your treasures in heaven.  Jesus asks us to give up everything thing for him, not in the literal sense.  He wants you to detach from the things of this world.  When you put God first in everything you are saying I don't need anything but you Lord.
