do you know Jesus

Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?”  John 1:48

In today's Gospel reading we read of Nathaniel's denial that the Savior of the world can come from a place like Nazareth.  Eventually he did find out Jesus was born in Bethlehem which would fulfill what the prophets foretold.  We too believe in our world today that God doesn't know who I am or what I want.  We think we know what is best for our life.  Just as he saw Nathaniel sitting under the fig tree, Jesus knew us before we were born.  He knows everything about us, he knows our thoughts and what we are going to say before we say it.  Is there a Phillip in your life who is persistent in trying to get you to know Jesus more?  What are you afraid of?  Why won't you 'come and see' the greater things that Jesus has done and will do in your life?  We are alot like Nathaniel in his denial and put up or road blocks and drag our feet to resist our encounter with Jesus.  

Lord Jesus Christ, it is very comforting and encouraging to realize that you know me through and through, that you love me and want me to follow you. Thank you for your love! Help me to bring others to you as well. Give me wisdom and perseverance to be able to make a difference in people’s lives. Help me to discern the wonders of your grace in my life and in the lives of those around me.

My witness

Lets open with a prayer. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit Amen. Lord Jesus, I believe in your presence in my life, family and those here today. I believe that you ask nothing of me that you do not give me the strength to do. I trust in the power of your grace and the care of your love. Love Always Wins

Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.  John 21:17 In response to Peter's denial on the night before he died, in today's Gospel Jesus asks Peter three times, "do you love me?"  Peter's response is true to the very existence of God, he does know everything.  It was painful for Peter to hear this from Jesus, but he was not asking this to make him feel bad, he was making a point that I will love you above everything.  No matter what you do in this life, I love you.  Jesus asks us this very same question, "do you love me more than these?".  God's love has no limit for you or for me, he loves you and wants to be with you and is why he ends the conversation with Peter, "Follow Me".  When He asks Peter to follow,  he is saying the same thing to us.  Are you willing to love Him "more than these?"  Are you willing to love more than any of your earthly possessions?  Our pure love is when our will is what God's will is for ...
