Never underestimate the power of God

Then Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.”   Luke 1:18

Often we doubt the power of God because we feel we do not we have the power or ability to carry out God's plan.  We need to believe that God is in control and his plan will be carried out with or without us.  We are the ones who limit the power of God to do the things in our lives that accomplish the good in the world.  Advent is a time of preparation for the coming of our Lord and Savior.  Advent just like Lent is a time of sacrifice to prepare our hearts.  What are you doing to celebrate Christmas and the gift of Jesus?  

Grant me the grace to make the most of this time of anticipation for your arrival at Christmas, Lord. My faith rests in you, my hope looks toward spending eternity with you. Help me grasp the value of time in the face of eternity.

Lets open with a prayer. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit Amen. Lord Jesus, I believe in your presence in my life, family and those here today. I believe that you ask nothing of me that you do not give me the strength to do. I trust in the power of your grace and the care of your love. Love Always Wins

Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.  John 21:17 In response to Peter's denial on the night before he died, in today's Gospel Jesus asks Peter three times, "do you love me?"  Peter's response is true to the very existence of God, he does know everything.  It was painful for Peter to hear this from Jesus, but he was not asking this to make him feel bad, he was making a point that I will love you above everything.  No matter what you do in this life, I love you.  Jesus asks us this very same question, "do you love me more than these?".  God's love has no limit for you or for me, he loves you and wants to be with you and is why he ends the conversation with Peter, "Follow Me".  When He asks Peter to follow,  he is saying the same thing to us.  Are you willing to love Him "more than these?"  Are you willing to love more than any of your earthly possessions?  Our pure love is when our will is what God's will is for ...
