healing power through God

Then the scribes and Pharisees began to ask themselves, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who but God alone can forgive sins?” Luke 5:21

To believe that God has the power to heal is a hard concept to truly understand. What is required to truly be healed? Faith, you need to have faith in God that he can heal you and shower you with his mercy. The prophets foretold of a Messiah that the blind would see, the deaf hear, and the lame walk. Isiah 35:5-6. So many people in today's world get blinded by the materialistic version of Christmas and lose the true meaning. People put so much into the buying and giving of gifts that Christ is forgotten.  

I love reading stories about healing performed by followers of Christ who also have the faith to believe they can heal. St. Paul healed the cripple in Lystra or St. Peter and St. John heal the cripple on the way into the temple. They also had the faith that through them God will heal. To have faith the size of a mustard seed you can move mountains. Jesus sends us out to spread the Good News and miracles will be preformed in his name, you just need to have faith. To have faith you need to have a clean heart. A clean heart comes after confession. Advent is the perfect time to clean your heart and prepare yourself for the best Christmas gift you could imagine, accepting the gift of Jesus. 

"Lord Jesus, through your merciful love and forgiveness you bring healing and restoration to body, soul, and mind. May your healing power and love touch every area of my life - my innermost thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and memories. Pardon my offenses and transform me in the power of your Holy Spirit that I may walk confidently in your truth and righteousness."

Lets open with a prayer. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit Amen. Lord Jesus, I believe in your presence in my life, family and those here today. I believe that you ask nothing of me that you do not give me the strength to do. I trust in the power of your grace and the care of your love. Love Always Wins

Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.  John 21:17 In response to Peter's denial on the night before he died, in today's Gospel Jesus asks Peter three times, "do you love me?"  Peter's response is true to the very existence of God, he does know everything.  It was painful for Peter to hear this from Jesus, but he was not asking this to make him feel bad, he was making a point that I will love you above everything.  No matter what you do in this life, I love you.  Jesus asks us this very same question, "do you love me more than these?".  God's love has no limit for you or for me, he loves you and wants to be with you and is why he ends the conversation with Peter, "Follow Me".  When He asks Peter to follow,  he is saying the same thing to us.  Are you willing to love Him "more than these?"  Are you willing to love more than any of your earthly possessions?  Our pure love is when our will is what God's will is for ...
