take heed to what is important

Then he said to the crowd, “Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.”   Luke 12:15

Reflecting on today's Gospel is a powerful message on what is important to you.  Family, house, friends or possessions, understand God created all things.  God needs to be first and foremost in every aspect of your life, the first person you acknowledge in the morning and the last you thank before youl ay your head to rest.  We were created in the image and likeness of God. We all have been given talent from God to use for the betterment of society.  We do not work to store up treasures here on earth we are to work to store up the treasures for heaven.  The material things of this world expire, but the enternal things you create will never expire.  The biggest treasure we have is our charity.  "Man has a beautiful duty and obligation: to pray and to love. If you pray and love, you will have found happiness in this world.” St. John Mary Vianney

The prosperity of a man is an opportunity for Satan to take control of your life and have you believe that anything is more important than God.  The first and second readings for today build on God's message.  From the first reading from Ecclesiasties we are told, "All things are vanity!"  And them from the second reading from Colossians it says, "to seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God."  God's message will never change, seek first the kingdom of God.

Be patient in suffering, be constant in prayer.  Romans 12:12.
