Easter is coming...

Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.  John 8:34

We are less than two weeks away from Easter and this is our opportunity to seek God's forgiveness.  We are all sinners, until you can admit that you don't stand a chance.  Once you admit that you are a sinner you need to understand that God wants to forgive you of your sins.  There is alot of discussion around confession and what is right and what is wrong.  First look at what John 20:23 says, "If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven" and then look at Leviticus 19:21-22 "he shall bring his compensation to the Lord, to the entrance of the tent of meeting,  a ram for a guilt offering. And the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering before the Lord for his sin that he has committed, and he shall be forgiven for the sin that he has committed ".  The bible is an amazing piece of work that can not just be taken by bits and pieces but has to be read thoroughly to understand.  Both the old and the new testament hold information that tells the story of salvation and what it will take in order for you to make it to heaven.  "The New Testament lives hidden in the Old, and the Old Testament is unveiled in the New?". St. Augustine

To be a slave to sin or a slave to God, which will benefit you in the end?  We all have sin in our lives, but we can turn to God in those moments and ask for his help. Ask him to make you more compassionate to our neighbor, more giving to the world and more loving to our fellow men and women in our lives. Understand the seven sacraments and why Jesus instituted them, teach them to your children and live them fully everyday as an example of who Christ created you to be, a child of God.  The sacraments are there for your benefit to make you a better person.

If you live according to My teaching, you are truly My disciples; then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.  John 8 : 31-32
