Fear

Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end.  (Luke 1:30-33)

Today is the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord.  Do you fear God?  What are you afraid of?  Are you afraid of what he might ask of you?  Are you afraid of what he might  tell you?  The fear lies in not wanting to change who you are, not wanting to accept the fact that there is a power above all that can change you.  Fear is not accepting the fact that you are wrong and he is right.  Apply the words that Mary says in response. to your life, "may it be done onto me according to your word", (Luke 1:38) The true fear is in the fact that I can not or I will not change the areas of life that will allow you to grow closer to God.  Fear is knowing there is one all powerful God in this world and not wanting or not allowing him to enter into your life because you may lose control or you feel you know what is best for your life.  Contemplate the words of Jeremiah, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you" (Jeremiah 1:5).  Are you afraid that he already knows you and you are ashamed of who you are and feel you can not change.  Fear is saying it is impossible to can not change.  Remember, "with God all things are possible".  Mathew 19:26

My wife, Stephanie, saw every morning when getting out of bed from Proverbs 3:5..
when you trust in the Lord, the fear inside of you decreases.  I try to follow her footsteps everyday and not let the turmoil of the day control me, but lean on the understanding that God is in control.

Prayer:  Father, thank You for loving us so much as to give Your Son so that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life (Jn 3:16)

My witness

Lets open with a prayer. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit Amen. Lord Jesus, I believe in your presence in my life, family and those here today. I believe that you ask nothing of me that you do not give me the strength to do. I trust in the power of your grace and the care of your love. Instead of you posting garbage to try to change the world, why don't you pray to God to change you?  Ask him to start in your soul and then pray to him to change your heart.  Believe me when I tell you, you do not have the ability to change the world, but you do have the ability to change you.
